Founders Hurriedly Removed: Should Supporters Worry About Governance and Transparency at Barnabas Aid?

Recent happenings at Nexcus, the International Board of Barnabas Aid, are deeply concerning. The Founders of Barnabas Aid were hurriedly removed from the International Board without notice. Furthermore, the Malaysia Board representative was also removed, and there is no transparency regarding the internal happenings inside the organization.

Nic Ng, the Chairman of Barnabas Aid, Malaysia, in his recent letter, writes: “We are currently in the blind about this Nexcus Board after repeated attempts to seek clarification. The events taking place are highly alarming to us.”

Noel Frost, the CEO, has ceased to work for the organization after papers originating from a High Court in his native South Africa indicated that he had been debarred from practicing law because of forgery, fraud, and embezzlement. Confidential information received indicates that such misconduct occurred while he was in the UK as well.

In addition to this concerning news, Colin Bloom has been made the permanent CEO replacing Noel Frost with a 5-year term. Initially appointed as the interim CEO without the support of the Founders, Colin has allegedly exercised powers beyond his interim duties.

The Nexcus Board, comprising the BA chair of each country, is based in the US. The Founders are now kept in the dark regarding the allocation of funds, the authenticity of new projects, true beneficiaries, and increases in administrative costs and salaries, contrary to the Founders’ goals to keep costs very low and maximize funds for projects.

The Malaysian Board has stated that they are no longer able to ascertain how the money will be utilized since the repeated requests to restore their seat on the International Board of Nexcus have been ignored for a month. Nic Ng, the Chairman, has further cautioned supporters to be careful with their giving. He writes, “Please consider giving only with full caution and be duly advised.”

Should supporters now be cautious about giving to Barnabas Aid? We await further updates to gain more clarity on this situation. However, a more pressing issue remains: Shouldn’t governance and transparency issues at the BA International Board be addressed immediately?

We can only hope that God’s justice will prevail!
